Just Rambler and I to this one. Abbey rode her mother's dressage horse, Tango, in all the Arab classes and had a blast. Rambler redeemed himself, guess he likes to be considered an Arab, not a Saddlebred! I have won the Richmond Fair Arabian English Pleasure Championship quite a few times on grey horses, like to keep that tradition going for sure.

Rambler & Pixie competed here. Pixie as a Parade Pony taking all the new and scary stuff in stride and Rambler as a Saddlebred Country Horse. We just can't make up our minds with which half to play with! Neither got ribbons at the top of the class, but for experience and entertainment they were placed way up there.

Hennessy was in rare form for his classes with Abbey. There was a lot of tension in the ring with a few of the girls "over riding" their mounts and it was more of an English class than not. He picked up on that and was way too "high" and they had errors. On the other hand, they were awesome in their Costume class, earning a well deserved ribbon and a beautiful pair in the Show Hack. Rambler continued to motor along and although he had some baby moments, wrong leads, a buck and general "greenness", he sure looked good and showed loads of potential for 2005. Lil, after her abysmal dressage classes (I don't know how she got the Top 5), redeemed herself the next day with an incredible ride in the HA Sport Horse Under Saddle class. I was just in awe of how together we were and it was a practically perfect ride. I thought Sue was going to fall off her feet when we were named Champion, but had no time to really savour it as Abbey was due in the ring with Rambler at the same time - so I had to race off on the golf cart to coach and support her in her first Regional class with her other grey boy. All in all, lots of nice colour was down at the back of barn Z.

We used this as a warm up for the Regional classes and a schooling show for Rambler as this week was really his 2nd time out and first time with Abbey showing him! He handled the other horses and the crowd just fine, better than when alone in the ring, that is for sure. With the rain, the dressage classes were held a day later prior to the Regional dressage classes, not sure if that had anything to do with Lil's lousy performances or not, but she sure wasn't with me that day!

Holding this fairly prestigious show first thing in the morning was a little different, but we had fun with our Canadian bred horses, Lil & Rambler. Cathy had only ridden Lil once before plus the night before the show and did a great job with Lil in her class.

This time we left the weanlings at home and had a pretty good show with the rest. Rambler made his debut after only a couple weeks training and no idea of how to go forward when he first arrived.

As usual, we took way too many horses, but had a grand time with them! Lots of debuts for both horses and riders, with everyone surviving and eager to do it again. Hennessy at age 20 looked phenomenal with Abbey and after he got over his initial goofiness in the first class, showed like the superstar that he is.
