Sue had been planning this for a year and she cleaned up Lil to the best of her ability (it was cold and miserable, so no bath) and loaded her on the trailer. Dessia, Mary & Carl met her somewhere West of Ottawa (near Kinburn?) to help and support. At first they measured her at 15.2 hands and we thought that was a tad short, but the other judges asked for a re-measurement and it was right on the mark of 16 hand with an 8.25 inch cannon and large girth. Dessia took her out into the arena and she stood just perfect for the judges to examine her. One judge had been in the lounge and when she came out and said she was the prettiest picture as she looked out. They were very impressed with the fact that Lil is a "doing" horse, competing in Dressage as well as completing Competitive Trail Rides. They don't see that too often. We walked and trotted the triangle, then turned her loose to evaluate her gaits. Unfortunately Lil was off behind and we weren't sure why, but they did not score her down for that. She passed with flying colours with a score of 72 and is now an Approved Canadian Sport Horse Mare for breeding! Congratulations to Sue and Lil! 

Lil was our shining star with 3 Top 5s, Andy didn't embarrass us and had some really good moments in the dressage ring.

We used this as a warm up for the Regional classes and mostly for the girls (Lee, Bailey, Lori & Lindsey) to get more ring experience. Everyone did great and had a blast even though they weren't always in the ribbons!

We took only 4 yearlings by Ibn Bee to this show for halter classes and Sport Horse In Hand. They had excellent conformation and movement scores, but were a tad antsy being their first and second shows, so their manners were scored accordingly. Click on the links to view their cards.

Despite the rain, we had a great time, very relaxed and the horses did quite well for their first show of the year and for some of them, their first show ever! Many thanks to Lori, Lindsey, Lee, Bailey, Sue and Mary for helping so much and ensuring that the horses were ready and the classes video taped.
